I am a maker - of art and poems and images – and the work I make is both rooted in and grows from my experiences and thoughts, observations and reflections.
Living where I do, I drive. A lot. The landscape through which I drive inspires my work, and the time on the road creates a contemplative space in which ideas ferment, words come together and connections are made. I use what I see as inspiration. I gather what I see as raw material.
I have been making woven tie down strapping works for some time. Use of a discarded item wrapped around a re-purposed canvas appeals to my waste-conscious mind, and the regular grid achieved with a plain weave pays homage to my Studio Textiles Diploma.
