Helping your hard-to-recycle items find new life

We are excited to announce that we are officially set up as a drop off point with Banish to help the people of Rochester and surrounds to drop off your hard-to-recycle items! We have a handy box in which to drop your items for recycling. Check out the list below to see what we do and do not accept.

Did you know that you can buy reusable and plastic free alternatives to some of these items at Twist and Sprout? Instead of buying disposable coffee pods, you can buy whole coffee beans and a manual grinder to grind fresh at home (the taste is so much better as well!). Swap out your single-use bread bag and plastic bread tag with a reusable bread bag from Onya. Or, instead of purchasing a lip balm in a plastic tube, choose our Noosa Basics lip balm in compostable cardboard!

We are running this as a free service to the community, and our involvement in the scheme in fact costs us money. Very few of the products that are sold at Twist and Sprout create the kind of waste that is accepted by this system. If you wish to make a purchase while you are in store dropping off your recycling, or to make a gold coin donation, it would help to keep the scheme running and support our local zero waste efforts.
